Elementary School Programs

A child’s first contact with live symphonic music can be transformative!

Symphony Nova Scotia's Elementary School Programs offer children the chance to engage with orchestra members in a low-barrier, hands-on way.

All of our programs are developed in consultation with practicing music specialists in Nova Scotian schools so that students’ contact with the symphony also helps them achieve the learning goals laid out for them by the Department of Education.

Not only can their experience be a musical one, but some of our programs offer exciting cross-curricular links with science, social studies, personal development, language arts, and PE.

Symphony Nova Scotia musicians truly enjoy the opportunity to meet and mentor Nova Scotian children. All of our programs are subsidized through the generosity of corporate sponsors and a few are even free to schools.

In-School Concerts - Take your entire school to the Symphony without leaving the building!

Adopt-a-Musician - Have your class team up with a Symphony Nova Scotia musician in a multi-session creative project.

School Dress Rehearsals - A chance for children in grades four and up to experience the symphony on stage in the concert hall at a very reduced price.

Student Matinees - These concerts, right from the Symphony's regular lineup, are performed just for an audience of students.

For more information about any of our music education programs, please contact Allan Gaskin at 902.421.1300 ext. 229.
