ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL VIOLA

(tenure-track position)

National auditions will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

This audition is open only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.


Salary & Benefits

  • Starting Date: To be determined, pending two-week trial
  • 2023/24 Weekly Salary: $1185.96
  • 2023/24 Season Length: 36 weeks, including 2 weeks paid vacation
  • Benefits: 7% Musicians’ Pension Fund contribution, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, cost-shared Group Health Insurance Plan, paid sick leave, relocation allowance. CBA negotiations for a new agreement are currently underway.

An offer of employment to the Assistant Principal Viola audition winner is contingent on the successful completion of a two-week trial period. Full-time employment will be offered at the earliest date possible, as mutually agreed by the Musician and Symphony Nova Scotia. The Symphony Nova Scotia Audition Committee reserves the right to dismiss at any time any candidate not meeting the highest professional standards at this audition. Successful applicants will be required to become members of the Atlantic Federation of Musicians, Local 571 CFM.

If this position is won by a current member of Symphony Nova Scotia, the resulting vacancy may be offered to another candidate.
