About the Role

The Creative Specialist plays a critical role in managing and implementing the organization’s visual brand identity by creating original graphics that communicate, inspire, inform, and captivate audiences. This position is responsible for managing the visual identity of SNS across all print and digital formats including social media, marketing collateral, concert programs, website, emails, and other PR/marketing initiatives.

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and works with team members in developing a strong brand identity and ensuring consistent quality standards are met for both Symphony Nova Scotia’s professional and youth orchestras.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Management- translate marketing and communication concepts into engaging visuals that align with brand standards
  • Design Creation- conceptualize and develop original graphics, illustrations, and layouts for print and digital formats (social media, websites, brochures)
  • Multimedia Creation- produce animations, reels, stories, and other visual content
  • Visual Storytelling- develop branded collateral, reports, and concert materials
  • Collaboration- work with team members to brainstorm concepts and finalize high-quality marketing assets
  • Project Management- manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept to completion, adhering to deadlines

About You

You are a strong communicator, creative thinker, problem solver, and relationship builder. You are self-directed but also work well with a team of creative colleagues. You are organized, adaptable, and approach your work with a project management mindset.

You have:

  • a degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
  • strong visual and creative aptitude and design skills
  • expertise in Adobe Creative Suite to create edit and prepare final files for production
  • strong understanding of social media platforms and engagement strategies
  • understanding of video and audio production as it applies to content marketing
  • experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Knowledge of music (particularly classical music) considered to be a very strong asset.

The Creative Specialist is required to work in-office and attend concerts and events as directed by the Director of Marketing and Communication.  Some evening /weekend work required.

Salary and benefits

$50,000 to $55,000/year; eligible for a comprehensive health plan. Full-time, permanent position.
