Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Patron Services Manager provides key customer services support to Symphony Nova Scotia’s ticket buyers and concert attendees.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Managing in-house ticketing transactions, responding to ticketing inquiries, and problem solving customer concerns
  • Liaising with the Dalhousie Arts Centre Box Office
  • Providing concierge service to patrons
  • Managing the Symphony Nova Scotia concierge desk/boutique at concerts, including managing the Box Office at concerts not held at the Dalhousie Arts Centre
  • Managing patron phone calls and concert-related email communications
  • Providing support for subscription and donation campaigns
  • Establishing and maintaining patron relationships
  • Supporting the registration of students and families for outreach and education concerts
  • Overseeing general office management, including responding to general inquiries
  • Assisting Director of Finance and Administration with general office management
  • Managing cash and preparing accurate reports

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency with database software/data entry
  • Able to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to show understanding, courtesy, and tact in stressful situations
  • Creative and eager to explore new ideas

Skill areas preferred

  • Cash handling experience
  • Experience processing debit card, credit card, and gift certificate payments
  • A passion and appreciation for music and the arts, particularly symphonic music

Education and experience required

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education; focus in Public Relations, Communications, or Business Administration an asset
  • 2+ years’ experience in a leading customer service role, with box office or ticketing services experience a strong asset

Location and hours

  • 35 hours/week
  • During the concert season, approximately 25-50% of the job time will be conducted on evenings/weekends at concert venues with remainder of time during regular office hours at Suite 301, Park Lane Mall (5657 Spring Garden Road), Halifax
