Chiedza Jones

Chiedza Jones is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Black Business Initiative (BBI), leading the operational effectiveness and efficiency of Canada’s longest-serving Black business development organization. In her previous role as Director of Corporate Strategy, Research, and Communications with BBI, Chiedza served as Project Manager in the engagement of Black communities across Canada for the Employment Equity Act Review, and, in her work with the organization, has served alongside three other intermediary organizations to operationalize the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative, which is Canada’s largest investment into Black-led and Black-serving not-for-profit organizations in Canada, exceeding $200 million over the last four years. With a robust background in the nonprofit sector spanning several years, Chiedza specializes in project management, strategic planning and implementation, data management, grant administration, research, and evaluation.

A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Strategy Implementation Professional (SIP), Chiedza holds a Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies with a specialization in food security and policy. Chiedza is also the Founder and Principal Consultant of Domba-Jones Consulting Services, where she helps organizations close the strategy-execution gap. She serves as a permanent member of the Selection Committee for Black Community Housing under the Community Housing Growth Fund, is part of the External Working Group for the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21’s Welcome Home to Canada program, and was recognized by My East Coast Experience Media as one of Atlantic Canada’s Most Inspiring Immigrants of 2024 for her leadership, social responsibility, and community contributions.

Chiedza has a deep passion for the arts, with over 15 years of experience as a Spoken Word Artist. Throughout her youth, she was actively involved in drama and performed with the Cultural Choir in high school. From 2018 to 2020, she also served as a Music Teacher for the African Cultural Enrichment Program run by the United African Canadian Women’s Association.
