Born in South Korea, Joelle started her studies on the violin at the age of eleven. A few years later, she and her family moved to Canada and have called Toronto home since then.
Joelle received her Bachelor’s degree at Eastman School of Music where she studied with Zvi Zeitlin, and went on to pursue graduate studies at Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Paul Kantor.
She then joined the New World Symphony in Miami Beach as a fellow violinist, where she had the privilege of playing under the baton of renowned conductors such as Micheal Tilson Thomas and Stéphane Denève. She was featured in Music Festivals such as Music Academy of the West and Spoleto Festival USA. Since 2013, she has been a member of Toronto Massiaen Ensemble, an ensemble dedicated to performing classical and newly commissioned works, in its uniquely spiritual programming.
Joelle is excited to make great music with Symphony Nova Scotia, and also is looking forward to exploring the beautiful nature of Eastern Canada.
This is a one-year position for 2015/16.
