June Kim is thrilled to be joining Symphony Nova Scotia as Principal Oboe for the 2016/17 season.
Prior to joining Symphony Nova Scotia, she performed with the Calgary Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and New World Symphony. A passionate chamber musician, June frequently performs with her woodwind quintet, Midic Winds, the bronze medalist of the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in 2013. She has had the privilege of partaking in several renowned summer festivals such as the Banff Centre Master Classes, L’Orchestre de la Francophonie, Sarasota Music Festival, National Arts Centre Summer Music Institute, and Domaine Forget Academy of Music.
June received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music graduating with a performance certificate and a distinction. She completed her Master’s degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in 2016. Her former teachers include Robert Atherholt, Richard Killmer, and Jean Landa.
