Beth Elliot joined the Symphony Nova Scotia production team in January 2021. With a full season under her belt, she is thrilled to tackle the 40th season celebrations ahead! Fully immersed in the Symphonic music world, she is still a proud graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University performance production program and her career in theatre before she joined Symphony Nova Scotia. Constantly cheering on her co-workers and the musicians, you can find Beth grooving side stage, hustling through front of house, or powering through loading or unloading from our venues. In either case, Beth is proud to be working for Symphony Nova Scotia and is delighted to have made K’jipuktuk (Halifax) her home.

Q&A WITH BETH

What’s your favorite quote?“Theatre is easy; people are hard.” – Andrea Surich

What’s your favorite indulgence?Tough one! A wonderful evening out with endless crafted cocktails, tasty appetizers, and friends. Or a cozy night in with homemade pizza, wine, and popcorn. Or after a long day, a peanut butter cookie and a cold glass of milk.

Which concert are you looking forward to most next season? If I wasn’t side stage for concerts, I would get a U-Pick 4 and choose one concert from each of our mainstage series: Magnificent Mozart (Feb. 2024), Reeny & Mahalia Smith (May 2024), Big Band Hit Parade (Sept. 2023), and Handel’s Royal Fireworks (Nov. 2023).

What’s your favorite food(s)Dip or sauce of any kind. If there is a sauce to go with a food item, sign me up! If there are multiple, I must try them all! I am the person that is holding up the line confusing staff on how many sauces I have ordered.

What do you like to do in your spare time?I love going for walks in places I haven’t been, admiring architecture and breathtaking views. I also like hiking, camping, bonfires, and biking in the amazing outdoors. In my spare time around my apartment, I enjoy making/modify clothes, yoga, and keeping my house plants alive.

Who’s your favorite person in the world? My favorite person in the world is my partner, Ryan. But the OG favorites would be my family which includes my mother, father, and brother. When I was a teenager, we started to go Geocaching and that is when we came up with our team’s name: Core 4. Which has stuck ever since.

What’s your favorite book(s)?My favorite book is my new cookbook One Pan, Two Plates by Carla Snyder. It is the best cookbook for two people. It has excellent detailed ingredient lists that are easy to find. Great instructions that allow you to clean as you are cooking. Not to mention all the meals I have prepared so far have been fantastic! It tastes as if you are treating yourself to a delicious take-out order.

What are you listening to right now?Sammy Rae and Friends, Anne Murray, Meghan Trainor, Lawrence Maxwell, and anything in-between.
