Beethoven: Fidelio

It’s a breathtaking, magnificent masterwork. A clarion call to justice. And a worldwide smash hit for over 200 years. For the very first time, in partnership with the acclaimed Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, Symphony Nova Scotia joins forces with the Symphony Chorus and the Nova Voce Men’s Choir to present Beethoven’s one and only opera, his “Ode to Freedom”: Fidelio. Experience the gripping, timeless tale of a woman who risks all to save her imprisoned husband, conquering the forces of tyranny and oppression with bravery, hope, and love. Praised as one of the greatest operas ever written, Fidelio is a deeply powerful statement, a rich musical feast, and a must-see magnum opus.

Two performances only. Fidelio will be semi-staged, 2.5 hours in length, and sung in German with English surtitles. Featuring singers from the LAMP Emerging Artists Residencies program.
