Aquakultre
Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, conductor

A homegrown Scotian celebration where history, community, and music unite.

Aquakultre is the artistic voice of Halifax’s Lance Sampson, whose poetic lyrics are rooted in African Nova Scotian storytelling. Lance’s recent work in documentary television, visual art, and music, all draw from his explorations of ancestry, history, and community as a proud Scotian who traces his roots back to 1783. He is the recipient of Creative Nova Scotia’s 2025 Black Artist Recognition Award and is currently Artist-in-Residence at the Black Cultural Centre in Cherry Brook. This concert celebrates Black Nova Scotians past, present, and future.
