Grace Williams: Sea Sketches
Franz Joseph Haydn: Symphony No. 49, “La Passione”
Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Concerto
Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is a mighty mammoth of the violin repertoire, renowned for its sheer scale and serene, spacious elegance. Now, Symphony Nova Scotia presents our first performance of this monumental work in a decade, together with guest violinist Andrew Wan – the multi-award-winning concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony, known for his “warm, smooth, and expressive playing” (The WholeNote). Also, hear an evocative work from British composer Grace Williams, as well as Haydn’s fiery, emotional Symphony No. 49, “La Passione”.
This concert will also be performed in Dartmouth. Click here for more details.
"Wan plays with a discreet combination of soloistic flair and chamber-music sensitivity, his phrasing always shapely and articulate."–Gramophone
