From chaos to creation, this innovative program unleashes the raw power of nature in sound. Rebel’s daring Les Élémens erupts with a shocking musical “Chaos,” sounding every note of the scale before shaping Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Then, in Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, nature bursts into vivid colour — birds take flight, thunder rumbles, frost glitters, and fires blaze. Thrilling and evocative, this is Baroque music at its most adventurous.

About the Artists: 

Emmanuel Resche-Caserta, leader & violin solo

He is the concertmaster of the French baroque orchestra Les Arts Florissants and the musical assistant of their founder and principal director William Christie. He has collaborated on all their tours and opera productions since 2017, at the Opéra de Paris (Médée by Charpentier, 2024), Opéra Comique (Platée, 2020, and Les Fêtes d’Hébé, 2024, by Rameau, Titon et l’Aurore by Mondonville 2020), Brooklyn Academy of Music, Theater an der Wien, Berlin Philharmonie, among others.

Emmanuel made his debut as conductor with Les Ambassadeurs/La Grande Écurie with Dardanus at the Auditorium de Radio France, Beaune, Tourcoing and Bucarest in 2025. He is regularly invited to lead orchestras from the violin, in French and Italian repertoires: Tafelmusik (Toronto), Orfeus (Stockholm), with various ensembles in France, Spain, Portugal and Belgium.He has been invited to teach at the Juilliard School, the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, Conservatoire Supérieur de Lyon and Moscow Conservatory.

Emmanuel studied Political Sciences in Paris Sciences Po and History of Art as well as the violin. He then decided to dedicate entirely to the baroque violin and studied with Enrico Onofri (Conservatorio di Palermo, Italy), François Fernandez (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris), Monica Huggett (the Juilliard School, New York) and Pablo Valetti (Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain).

Since 2019, Emmanuel has played a violin by Francesco Ruggeri from 1675, awarded by the Jumpstart Jr. Foundation in Amsterdam.

He teaches the baroque violin at Conservatorium van Amsterdam since 2022.

Here are a couple handy tips when booking tickets on the Dalhousie Box Office website:

• You’ll be asked to log in to book your tickets. If you’re not sure you have an account, click “Forgot your password?”
• You’ll need to agree to the Terms and Conditions before checking out.
• You’ll need to choose a Delivery Method:
  • If you choose “Hold at Box Office”, you’ll need to pick up your tickets when you arrive, up to 1 hour before the concert. We recommend this for easy exchanges throughout the season!
  • If you choose “Print at Home”, your tickets will be included with your confirmation email as a PDF attachment.
• You will receive an email confirmation from the Box Office.
