Student Matinees

School Matinees are performances from Symphony Nova Scotia’s regular lineup, presented just for an audience of students. They’re a great chance for students of all ages to experience Symphony Nova Scotia onstage at an accessible time, and at a reduced price.

Cost: $15.00 per person (student or chaperone), HST included.

Symphony Nova Scotia’s The Nutcracker is Halifax’s favourite holiday tradition! When a little girl’s toy comes to life, she’s whisked away to an enchanted world where she meets magical creatures, colourful new friends, and the ferocious Mouse Queen. Complete with larger-than-life puppets, spirited dancing, and Tchaikovsky’s hauntingly beautiful music, this tale of magic and wonder is a delightful holiday adventure for all ages.

This special 10:30 am performance is a chance for students to see a magical ballet with many young dancers live onstage.

This performance lasts the full two hours, with a 20-minute intermission.

Cost: $15.00 per person (student or chaperone), HST included.

The mystery of Russia’s 17-year-old Grand Duchess has fascinated the world for 100 years, and this passionate retelling brings the myth to life with dazzling choreography, accurate period sets and costumes, and a romantic, evocative score. Praised as “lyrical, attractive, and accessible” and “a crowd pleaser” (The Globe and Mail), this beautiful ballet is a captivating experience for young and old alike.
