A letter from Board Member Catherine Campbell

Dear friends,

I can vividly remember my very first Symphony Nova Scotia concert at the Rebecca Cohn. It was magical and festive, and I will never forget it! Celebrating Christmas with The Rankins. What a lovely combination – the beautiful, angelic voices of the Rankin sisters supported by the impressive and powerful sound of the orchestra.

Thanks to your support the Symphony continues to create unforgettable moments that leave lasting memories.

The notion of singing in combination with the orchestra is of great interest to me. I attend all the Maritime Fusion and tribute concerts, and I can tell you a story or two about each one: I danced in the aisles to the songs of Michael Jackson and I watched Ben Caplan propose to his girlfriend on stage. Anything can happen at a symphony concert, but you must go to catch the magic!

And this, my friends, is the important piece! We need your help to introduce the larger community to Symphony Nova Scotia and let them know that there is something for everyone to enjoy! Because of the support from people like you, we are lucky to have such a talented, well-respected symphony orchestra here in Halifax. By donating to the Symphony, you make it possible to perform professional, highly-acclaimed concerts, and deliver free and discounted community programming.

Fortunately, people who donate to the Symphony are really helping all of us by keeping ticket prices reasonable and allowing the orchestra to provide free concerts around the community.

Music is such a powerful medium, evoking memories and emotion while encouraging creativity and contemplation. It helps build community, by supporting friendships and common bonds, celebrations and traditions. Our Symphony makes Nova Scotia a great place to live and work.

I get a great deal of satisfaction for the price of my ticket. I donate to share the experience with the community and make the orchestra accessible to many, many people. I encourage you to renew your support, make your first donation and tell your friends about this gem in our midst.

Sincerely,

Catherine Campbell

P.S. Thanks for your support. Your orchestra helps make Halifax interesting and culturally vibrant, while still being small enough to meet friends and neighbours at every turn. A perfect combination!
